August CareerPassport Spotlight -- Rachelle Brewer

August CareerPassport Spotlight

Rachelle Brewer

CareerPassport Team- What is your status in school and, what are you majoring in?

Rachelle - I’m a senior majoring in finance.
CareerPassport Team- Tell us what some of your career goals are.

Rachelle - I’d like to be a CFO or COO.
CareerPassport Team- What attracted you to the CareerPassport Program?

Rachelle - I was attracted to the program because I was struggling with selecting a major. I changed my major three times before finally deciding. I feel that if I had received the assistance the CareerPassport program offers when I first started college, it would have saved me time and money. Even when I had selected my major, I struggled with the decision I made. I wanted to be sure that the major I picked was a correct choice for me.
CareerPassport Team - How are you participating in the CareerPassport Program?

Rachelle - I am a Self-Discovery Track Participant and Co-Inter Club Council Representative
CareerPassport Team- What have you enjoyed most about the program?

Rachelle - I have enjoyed the motivating support the CareerPassport team offers. Being surrounded by helpful and supportive peers and leaders, I have found a new confidence in myself, and what I can accomplish.
CareerPassport Team - What has been the most beneficial activity you’ve participated in to help you meet your future
career goal?

Rachelle – The most beneficial activity that I participated in is the mentoring program. My mentor was highly motivating and encouraging. Without her support, I wouldn’t have had the confidence to take advantage of an opportunity that was in front of me. I am now the COO of a successful, up-and-coming IT company because her encouragement helped me take the first step in the right direction.
CareerPassport Team- What advice regarding the CareerPassport program would you give to other students?

Rachelle - I would advise students to join The Program as soon as you possibly can, especially while you are going through the process of selecting a major. While participating in the tracks, you learn important things about yourself that will help you make an educated decision about your educational goals. In the end, it will make a world of difference in boosting your confidence because you will know the direction you’re headed in your career goals.
